Born in Panama and raised in New York City, Daphne Rubin-Vega debuted on Broadway as Mimi in the original cast of RENT, which earned her a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a musical. She then went on to costar in a number of hit movies, including Wild Things, starring Kevin Bacon and Matt Dillon, and Flawless, starring Robert DeNiro. Her star continued to rise over the years in various on- and off-Broadway roles, including the Pulitzer Prize winning ANNA IN THE TROPICS, earning her a second Tony nomination, the LAByrinth Theater Company’s production of JACK GOES BOATING and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at the Circle in the Square Theater. “Dr.” Rubin-Vega—she received an honorary doctorate from Kean University—recently just finished shooting the film version of JACK GOES BOATING and is about to start the film KEEPER OF THE PINSTRIPES based on the bestselling children’s book, THE BOY OF STEEL.  Her album REDEMPTION SONGS can be downloaded from iTunes.  www.daphnerubinvega.com
